A18 - Siershahn

May 22, 2023

We had crossed the Rhine for the first time and found ourselves in the Westerwald. Not many Rheinwiesenlager were built on the right bank of the Rhine. Via Siershahn station, we found the Poststraße to the former Rheinwiesenlager. This Rheinwiesenlager was located on top of a hill, much of which has now been excavated. It is just past the Tonbergbaum Museum at the end of Poststraße. Several opencast mines are and were in use in and around Siershahn for the excavation (Tongrube) of very pure clay-like materials such as pipe clay (kaolin) and porcelain clay. Along an overgrown path, I came to a large field with young plantings; this is where I wanted to be.

I concluded my visit with a prayer to God, our Lord and Alforce with the prayer for Love, Light and Peace for the affected suffering in the encampments and for the affected area.
