A12 - Heidesheim
Mai 8, 2023
In Heidesheim on Moselstraße we found a large cemetery. Beforehand, I had been
unable to find any information about a Rheinwiesenlager. The cemetery is located
along a railroad line. That could be an important clue. After all, a railroad line
was an important supply route of captured soldiers at the time.
We found no clues there of the location of the Rheinwiesenlager or of soldiers
killed in those encampments.
Once again, we were left empty-handed.
We asked God, our Dear Lord, the Alforce to strengthen this little town and its
surroundings with Love, Light and Peace.

In preparing for a second visit to the Rheinwiesenlager, coincidence helped us.
Heidesheim kept secret from us and probably from many others the location of the
Rheinwiesenlager. I normally look up geographic information on
"Open Street Maps" I didn't do that this time, I used MapCarta and
what comes up?
That was the location of Heidesheim's Rheinwiesenlager.

If you drive from Heidesheim on the K18 to Heidenfahrt, it is on the left at the
junction to the A60 access/exit, 16 Ingelheim Ost.
The indication "Rheinwiesenlager" on the map is the location of an
impressive memorial. Probably the encampment was located there in the adjacent
fields. No further indications of this have been found on site.
There is no parking. On the side of the memorial; we parked our car in the verge.

At this memorial I prayed God, Our Lord and the Almighty to bring Love, Light and Peace to Heidesheim and the Rheinwiesenlager there, so that the pain of deceased soldiers and survivors may be relieved and the area can be entered again.
With the visit to this memorial, we were able to open up another piece of history of the Rheinwiesenlager.
